1976

Chile, 1976. Carmen heads off to her beach house to supervise its renovation. Her husband, children and grandchildren come back and forth during the winter vacation. All her life will change drastically when the family priest asks her to take care of a young man he is sheltering in secret. When she does that, Carmen steps onto new and unexplored territories, far away from the quiet life she is used to.

The director of '1976', a film between drama and thriller, is Manuela Martelli, whose grandmother serves as the inspiration for the main character.

The film was part of the Directors' Fortnight at the last Cannes Festival and has won the Best New Director award at the London Festival and the Jerusalem Festival. In addition, Manuela Martelli won the award for Best Direction at the Athens Festival. '1976' participated in the Horizontes Latinos Section of the San Sebastian Festival
