A Room With a View

In the early twentieth century Lucy Honeychurch (Helena Bonham Carter) is an English girl of good family who will travel to Florence with her cousin and chaperone Charlotte Bartlett (Maggie Smith). In the pension where they stay (Pensione Bertolini, very popular with British tourists) know the eccentric Mr. Emerson (Denholm Elliott) and his son George (Julian Sands) who kindly cede them to their rooms for the ladies can enjoy a window overlooking the city. At first, women are distrustful of Emerson, but as the film progresses all guests feel that Italian air make them see the importance of life. Directed by James Ivory, it is an adaptation of the novel by E. M. Foster won rave reviews and numerous awards.
