Joan Verra (Isabelle Huppert) has always been an independent, loving, free-spirited and adventurous woman. On a Paris street, she meets her first love, who has returned to the French capital after years of absence. Overwhelmed, she decides not to tell him that they had a child together. For this reason, the woman flees to her country house to remember her last 40 years, building a fantastic image of her life.
Joan's son ,Nathan (Swann Arlaud), has recently arrived from Montreal, accompanies her at the moment. A long-awaited and liberating journey about accepting stories that serve to deceive oneself. Well, the return of her former lover will cause a lie by omission, that of not revealing that he has a son, to be an opportunity for her to review her life: her youth in Ireland, her professional success, her love affairs and her relationship with her son. An apparently fulfilled life, but that hides a secret that she will have to face...
Laurent Larivière returns with an enigmatic drama that slowly unravels the mystery of the life of a woman, played by Isabelle Huppert, as she recalls the happiest and darkest memories of her life, between France, Ireland and Germany.
