Anemore

'Anemore' is a British-American drama directed by Ronan Day-Lewis, which is his directorial debut. The script is written by the director himself with the help of his father, Daniel Day-Lewis, who also stars in the film marking his return to acting after a seven-year retirement. Produced by Plan B Entertainment, the film premieres at the New York Film Festival before being released in the United States on October 3, 2025.

The film is set against the backdrop of the Northern Ireland conflict, known in English as "The Troubles." The political and social division of Ireland also caused separation and pain in many families. In this context, years after the peace agreement, Jem, a family man, says goodbye to his loved ones to search for his reclusive brother, Ray, who has been isolated in a remote place for a long time. His goal: to achieve reconciliation with his brother and bring him back to live with the rest of the family.

Meanwhile, Brian, Jem's adopted son, suffers bullying at school from those who claim that his father is Ray. They blame him for the harm caused by his supposed progenitor during the conflict years ago.

In addition to Daniel Day-Lewis as Ray Stoker, Sean Bean plays his brother Jem. Actress Samantha Morton is Jem's wife, Nessa, while Samuel Bottomley plays the couple's adopted son, Brian. 'Anemore' generally receives mixed reviews, positively highlighting the performance of Day-Lewis senior, while the script is part of the film's negative aspects.
