Ballad of a Small Player

Lord Doyle (Colin Farrell) is a professional gambler marked by arrogance, decadent charm, and an endless chain of bad decisions. After accumulating unpayable debts and scandalous losses, he hides in Macau, the eastern paradise of gambling, where he survives as a shadow among luxurious casinos and desperate bets. His credit is exhausted, both at the table and in life. Alone, worn out, and emotionally fractured, he seems doomed to fall without redemption.

In the midst of this downward spiral, Doyle meets Dao-Ming, an enigmatic woman whose presence shakes him. She not only represents an emotional breath of fresh air but also a promise of redemption as tempting as it is ambiguous. With her appearance, Doyle's luck changes suddenly and almost mystically: an improbable winning streak turns him into a local celebrity, restoring his confidence and power in the gambling world. However, his return to success does not go unnoticed. Mobs, loan sharks, and rival players are lurking, and the pressure mounts with every play.

As he sinks deeper into this new cycle of fortune, Doyle begins to question what is real.
