Concussion

This dramatic thriller based on a true story, focuses on unraveling the brilliant discovery by Dr. Bennet Omalu and the consequences of it which shook the foundations of the sports industry. This specialist in forensic neuropathology was the doctor who uncovered the first case of CTE in a professional footballer. Omalu realized that Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy was the only possible answer to the symptoms that the athletes were showing, some concussions that came from the systematic beatings they had received in the head throughout his career. Will Smith plays this professional who decided to follow his instincts and not be intimidated by the powerful National Football League whose interests clashed with the newly discovered truth that Omalu struggled to make public. The illness meant only a bump on the road to a million dollar business that did not seem to consider the health of his players as a priority.

Peter Landesman wrote and directed this film which also features Alec Baldwin, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Arliss Howard.
