Dangerous

Mel Gibson spends most of 'Dangerous' on the phone. He plays Dr. Alderwood, the eccentric psychiatrist trying to keep Dylan Forrester, a sociopath with a violent past, on the straight and narrow while he's out on parole and on medication to keep his urges in check, even if the doctor's own advice, usually given with a drink in hand, isn't always the soundest.

That gets a lot harder when Dylan's brother dies suddenly. Breaking his parole, he heads to the remote island his family owns, with an FBI agent on his trail and a mother who'd rather not see him at all. Then a crew of armed mercenaries turns up, clearly after something hidden on the island. Their leader, Cole, is someone Dylan knows from the old days, and now Dylan has to protect his family while trying not to kill anyone.

David Hackl, who directed 'Saw V', made this action thriller for Canada's Minds Eye Entertainment from a script by Christopher Borrelli. Scott Eastwood, son of Clint Eastwood, plays Dylan, with Kevin Durand as the mercenaries' leader, Famke Janssen as the FBI agent and Tyrese Gibson as the island's sheriff.

It was shot in late 2020 in British Columbia, in places like Kamloops and Kelowna, and Lionsgate released it in the US on 5 November 2021, in cinemas and on demand at the same time. Critics gave it a rough ride, and its average across the 13 outlets collected on Movienco is 3.5 out of 10.
