Fourth film of the movies saga inspired in the books 'Greg's Diary' of Jeff Kinney which tell the adventures of a kid who begins his high school years. The story begins one year after the events of the previous film, focusing once more on the protagonist, Greg (Jason Druker), a child, who in this new adventure will make a road trip with his family to meet in the Celebration of her Mimaw's 90th birthday. But all this is an excuse to go where you really want: attend a videogame convention.

Trivia Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul

The character of Rowley will have a larger role in the film than in the book, in which he only appears in one flashback. Rachael Harris, the actress who played the mother of Greg in the past three movies, played the mother of the new Greg (Jason Drucker), in the movie Barely Lethal. Many fans of the franchise expressed a lot of anger at all the recasting for this film, especially with the character of Rodrick, complaining in the social media with the hashtag #notmyrodrick.
