El Conde

'El Conde' is a dark, humorous satire about dictator Pinochet, who's shadow still expands over the Chilean society in the present. Pinochet is here a vampire, hidden away in a ranch in the south of Chile after faking his death. After becoming an indolent old man, the dictator is accompanied by his wife, Lucía Hiriart, and a minion who the Conde turned into a vampire after being a torturer during his dictatorship. Pinochet, who now feels betrayed by his country, wants to find death after being alive for 250 years. But this crashes with the interests of his offspring, who are trying to get their hands in their father's fortune, and with the misterious disappearance of a nun hired to exorcize the dictator.

In a black and white gradient, 'El Conde' presents a sartire of the immorality of fascism and the fight for money and power. Directed and co-written (with Guillermo Calderón) by Pablo Larraín, prolific Chilean filmmaker who's previously directed films like 'Neruda', 'Jackie', 'Spender' and 'The Club'. In the cast we find Jaime Vadell as Pinchoet, habitual actor in Larraín's cinema. With him we also see Alfredo Castro, Catalina Guerra, Paula Luchsinger, Diego Muñoz, Gloria Münchmeyer, Amparo Noguera, Marcial Tagle and Antonia Zegers.
