Plot
'Ecstasy' is a Spanish drama directed by Mariano Barroso, with a screenplay by Barroso himself and Joaquín Oristrell. The film, produced by Tornasol Films, premiered on February 16, 1996, after being part of the official section of the 46th Berlin Film Festival. It stars Javier Bardem and Federico Luppi.
It tells the story of three friends: Max, Rober, and his girlfriend Ona, who are looking for money to open a restaurant and achieve some goals in their lives. Tired of what the future holds for them, they devise a plan to get that money: to rob Max's father, Daniel, a famous and wealthy theater director who has never met his son and is currently in a relationship with Lola, an eccentric actress.
However, the three decide that the best prepared to con Daniel is Rober, who poses as Max. Soon, Daniel and Lola welcome Rober into their mansion as one of their own and indulge him with a life of success, leading Rober to set aside the idea of the robbery to continue enjoying a life he never would have imagined.
The veteran actor Federico Luppi plays Daniel, while a very young Javier Bardem is Rober in what is his tenth film. Silvia Munt plays Lola, Daniel Guzmán is Max, and Leyre Berrocal portrays Ona.
