Jaane Jaan

'Jaane Jaan', also translated sometimes as 'Suspect X' is an Indian mystery thriller written and directed by Sujoy Ghost. The film is an adaptation of the Japanese novel "The Devotion of Suspect X" published in 2005 by author Keigo Higashno. It stars Kareena Kapoor Khan alongside Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma.

The film takes us to Kalimpong, in the northeast of India, where single mother Maya (Kapoor Khan) leads a simple and humble life with his daughter Tara. Maya owns a small cafe where she also sells some sweets, and that his neighbor Naren (Ahlawat), a math teacher in the local school, uses to usually visit.

One day Inspector Karan (Varma) arrives to the small city coming from Mumbai to resolve the case of the disappearance of a rogue policeman, Ajit Mhatre. Ajit was Maya's husband and police suspects he might have tried to contact her. The Inspector soon discovers that Ajit has been murdered and Maya becomes the main suspect. However, she always seems to be one step ahead of the police, and all thanks to Naren's help, who also was her infancy friend.

'Jaane Jaan' has become a critics favorite, highlighting a solid script and a great casting, specially with the main trio. The movie has become a success for Netflix, which owns his distribution rights worldwide.
