Plot
Juan is a prison officer who silently watches Berta, the mother of one of the prisoners, every Sunday. When she finally gets brave enough to get close to her, she pretends to be a father who also has a daughter inside the prison: Josefina. The film directed by Javier Marco forms an enviable cast of actors, including Emma Suárez (Berta), Roberto Álamo (Juan), Miguel Bernardeau (Sergio), Manolo Solo (Rafael), Pedro Casablanc (Emilio), Simón Andreu (Pascual), Olivia Delcán (Josefina), and Bethlehem Ponce de León (Veronica), among many others. Sergy Moreno, producer of the film, says the following about this: "Some love stories start with a small lie. 'Josefina' is one of those stories. Juan and Berta, two mature people who one day cross the same path to find again the illusion of living. Together they will find love again to get out of the dark monotony of their day to day. With this feature, we seek to make an honest film". Cineuropa stated that it is "A film based on the delicate work of its actors and on dialogues that, in their silences, have many meanings and are discovering what are the shortcomings of its protagonists".
