After a complicated altercation in the office, Duval loses his job as an accountant in a major company. Due to his age (he is over 50 years) and a deep depression that he suffers and leads to alcohol addiction, Duval fails to find a job for three years. However, it all seems to go better when at the funeral of a loved one, an old acquaintance proposes him a job in a mysterious organization. His new work will be transcribing intercepted telephone calls, especially pointing out if one is related to possible terrorist attacks in the country. Not wanting to think ethically or morally, Duval accepts desperately. Soon, he begins to regain economic balance in his life, and he even becomes a mentor for other alcohol addicts. Nevertheless, his work begins to submerge him in a complex political plot and in the dark world of the espionage and the secret services. Thomas Kruithof's debut.
