Plot
Spain, the year 1807. Lucía (Bebe), better known as "La Llanera", has been imprisoned for 17 years, during which time they have tried to condemn her to the gallows on numerous occasions, but at the last minute she has always managed to save herself. After all that time, everything seems to indicate that she is going to earn her and her son Juan (Jason Fernández)'s freedom, who was born in prison and knows no world. She will try to return to her homeland without using violence, but it won't be that easy. Her son's father is Lagartijo (Xabier Deive), a dangerous bandit who has been in hiding for years and, when he learns of Lucia's release, decides to try to take Juan with him. The chase will be joined by more gangs of bandits, such as Aceituno (Isak Férriz) and the team of Governor Montejo (Luis Callejo), who, as well as looking for Lucía, are also chasing each other.
'Libertad', presented in cinemas as a film but changed to the format of a series on Movistar +, has been directed by Enrique Urbizu, who had already been in charge of productions such as 'La vida mancha', 'Gigantes' and 'No habrá paz para los malvados', for which he received two Goya awards in 2012: Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. He also won an Ondas for 'La caja 507'.
