Plot
Set in the vibrant Manhattan of the 20th century, Marty Supreme portrays the life of Marty Reisman, a charismatic hustler who turned street ping-pong games into a passport to glory, winning 22 titles and, at the age of 67, becoming the oldest champion to win a national racket sports competition.
Starring Timothée Chalamet, the film spans from underground betting in smoky bars to clashes in international tournaments, exploring both his legendary skills with the paddle and his ties to a world of risks, seduction, and excesses. Amid electrifying duels and endless nights, Reisman encounters women who will mark his story, played by Gwyneth Paltrow and Odessa A'zion.
Directed by Joshua Safdie and co-written with Ronald Bronstein, the film marks the filmmaker's return after the acclaimed 'Uncut Gems'.
Produced by A24, Marty Supreme brings together Chalamet, Paltrow, and A'zion in a cast that includes names like Fran Drescher, Abel Ferrara, Kevin O'Leary, and Tyler Okonma, and showcases a frenetic and detailed aesthetic that captures the pulse of a city and a man who turned table tennis into a spectacle of ambition, style, and challenge.
Its release in the United States is scheduled for December 25.
