There are several movie references in this film including a Night of the Living Dead poster in the video store and a Dawn of the Dead patch on Greg's Jacket.

The main character (Greg) is played by Thomas Mann. Thomas Mann is also the name of a German author who wrote Death in Venice, the book behind one of the movies Greg and Earl made a spoof of.

This is Olivia Cooke's first regular film not having to do with Sci-Fi or Horror.

The screenplay for this film was featured in the 2012 Blacklist; a list of the "most liked" unmade scripts of the year.
