Plot
'Michael' recovers the iconic pop star, a Michael Jackson beyond music, whose childhood and journey would mark everything that came after. This is a new dramatic-musical biopic in which we will get a glimpse into the life of the famous artist, his creative ambition, and that desire to establish himself as an icon for culture and the entertainment industry. Behind the direction of 'Michael' is Antoine Fuqua, who brings to the big screen a script by John Logan, inspired, of course, by the real events of Michael Jackson's life.
The one who will portray this iconic star is Jaafar Jackson, a nephew of Michael himself, son of the fourth Jackson, Jermaine. This is Jaafar's debut, as he has developed his career more as a dancer than as an actor. Alongside him, Juliano Valdi will play a young Michael, in his musical and experiential stage with the Jackson Five. The cast is joined by Colman Domingo, Nia Long, Miles Teller, Kendrick Sampson, Kat Graham, Laura Harrier, Larenz Tate, Derek Luke and Kevin Shinick, among others.
The film is produced by Lionsgate and GK Films and is distributed by Universal Pictures in the United States and Spain. 'Michael' hits our theaters on April 24, 2026.

A thriller recreated to the letter
To recreate the filming of "Thriller," the producers closed Union Pacific Avenue for two nights, the same location where the original music video was shot. They did this even on nights with a full moon to achieve the best possible atmosphere.
Played by his nephew in real life
For the casting of 'Michael', thousands of profiles were searched, and the chosen one was finally his real-life nephew, Jaafar Jackson, who had no acting experience. He received singing, acting, and dancing lessons in complete secrecy, as he didn't tell his mother about being cast in the movie for a year.
With the absence of Janet Jackson
One of the most notable absences in the film is that of Janet Jackson. The singer's sister not only does not participate in it in any way, but her character doesn't even appear. It was Janet herself who imposed her absence from the film.
