Plot
When Anna De La Vega (Sofia Carson), a young American with a promising career at Goldman Sachs, decides to take a sabbatical year to study Victorian poetry at the University of Oxford, she believes she has her life perfectly planned. However, everything changes when she meets Jamie Davenport, a charismatic young British man who turns out to be her professor (Corey Mylchreest). What begins as a light relationship, initiated by an accidental encounter where he splashes her with his car, transforms into a deep and intimate connection. Although they share a passion for literature, Jamie's free-spirited and contemplative nature clashes with Anna's ambitious discipline. Over time, tensions, cultural differences, personal dilemmas, and Anna's obsession with success come into question.
Surrounded by characters like the eccentric Charlie (Harry Trevaldwyn), the loyal Maggie (Esmé Kingdom), and the enigmatic Cecelia (Poppy Gilbert), Anna will discover that true learning at Oxford goes beyond the classrooms. Directed by Iain Morris, 'My Oxford Year' is a story about the search for identity, the confrontation between ambition and authenticity, and how unexpected encounters can transform our paths. With a visual approach that combines romance and tradition, the film captures the essence of Oxford as a space where life and dreams intertwine, and where the future is never fully written.
