Paris is Us

In this character-driven French drama, Anna, a young Parisian woman (Noemie Schmidt), a twenty-something waitress with few plans for the future after ditching her studies, is at odds with her boyfriend Greg (Gregoire Isvarine), a man who assures her he knows where his future is going when they meet at an outdoor rave in Paris. The couple connect instantly, bonding over a strong mutual attraction to one another. Greg ultimately decides to leave Paris for Barcelona to advance his career. Initially set to come out to see him in Spain, Anna ultimately stays in the City of Light. This leads to her narrowly escaping from the claws of death after missing the flight she intended to take to Barcelona, which ultimately crashed. Still in shock at having narrowly escaped an untimely end, Anna starts to become more and more distant from reality, living instead in her imagination as she wonders the streets of Paris. Anna begins to question the world around her, wondering whether reality is some sort of hyperreal projection as she believed in her childhood fantasies.

At the helm of the project is writer, director and cinematographer Elisabeth Vogler ('Blanchisserie en France'), who manages to condense this three-year labour of love into an 84 minute drama.
