Paternel

Simon is a priest fully dedicated to a parish in a small town in central France. After one of the masses, he receives a visit from Louise, whom he hadn't seen since they met at a seminar years ago and with whom he had several romantic encounters. She tells him how her life is going and introduces him to Aloe, an 11-year-old boy who turns out to be their son, conceived when he was studying to become a priest, but she didn't want to say anything to avoid frustrating his dreams.

Then Simon will see how his life takes a 180-degree turn as he has to balance his vocation for religion dedicated to his parishioners and taking care of his new and unexpected son. Thus, the father will have to fight against an institution in crisis due to the division between his son and his flock, trying to convince the Church that religion can be reconciled with fatherhood.

This French drama is directed by Ronan Tronchot, who makes his feature film debut after having directed several shorts, and stars Grégory Gadebois ('Tony's Love') as Simon, Anton Alluin ('The Treasure of Little Nicolas') as Aloe, and Géraldine Nakache ('I Will Go Where You Go') as Louise. They are joined in the cast by Lyes Salem ('L'Oranais').
