Plot
'Rondallas' is the new film by Daniel Sánchez Arévalo, director of other titles such as 'Primos', 'La gran familia española', or 'Diecisiete'. It is set in a small fishing village in Galicia, where two years have passed since a shipwreck that a fishing boat suffered. The tragic event shook and shocked the village until now, the members of the traditional music group, the rondalla, try to make their locality regain hope and leave mourning behind once and for all. To this end, they gather after some time with the aim of competing in a contest against neighboring villages. This will be nothing more than a way to move forward together again.
'Rondallas' stars Javier Gutiérrez and María Vázquez, accompanied by other figures such as Fer Fraga, Judith Fernández, Tamar Novas, Carlos Blanco, or Lola Rodríguez. Sánchez Arévalo once again navigates the genre of social drama sprinkled with comedic tones. His last major project was the Netflix series 'Las de la última fila' where we could also see this style.
This feature film premiered for the first time at the San Sebastián Film Festival, where critics received it with very positive opinions and comments. It arrives in theaters on January 1, 2026.
