Plot

The quiet and reclusive Baker Dill (Matthew McConaughey, 'Dallas Buyers Club') works in the small seaside community of Plymouth as a fishing boat captain taking tourists around the Florida Keys. To make extra money, he also operates as a gigolo by night and spends his days obsessively pursuing a tuna fish upon which he has bestowed the moniker 'Justice'. Despite his fixation, nobody else seems to believe that this mythically large fish swims in the local waters. The tranquil nature of the Keys is disturbed when Baker's ex-wife, Karen (Anne Hathaway, 'Les Misérables') comes roaring back onto the scene and begs her former husband to kill her abusive spouse (Jason Clarke, 'Zero Dark Thirty') for the sake of their son, especially as her current husband is linked to dangerous criminal activities. Karen suggests that they use Baker's current profession as a cover, with him taking her husband out for a boat trip from which he'll never return. Baker must consider whether committing one crime to stop another is an ethical decision, and how his personal and professional relationships will inevitably play into the choice that he makes. 'Serenity' is the latest cinematic project from writer-director Steven Knight ('Locke', 'Peaky Blinders', 'Dirty Pretty Things'). Hide full plot... Show full plot
