Plot

The film, based on the novel by Nicolai Lilin, tells the story of two friends growing up in a criminal clan. Kolyma (Arnas Fedaravicius) and Gagarin (Vilius Tumalavicius), friends since childhood, are educated by his grandfather Kuzya (John Malkovich) in the "honest criminal" code of their community. Their bond is so strong that Gagarin is sentenced to 7 years in prison to save his friend. When he returns home, greatly changed and distanced from their roots, try to connect again with Kolyma, but their differences grow until they finally fight for the love of the beautiful and innocent Xenya (Eleanor Tomlinson).

Trukanas Jonas and Arnas Sliesoraitis also stars in this film directed by Gabriele Salvatores ('I'm not scared', 'Happy Family').

In 2012, the film was nominated for 11 David di Donatello awards, including Best Picture.

The author of the novel, Nicolai Lilin, did not want his book to be translated into Russian since he wanted to "respect its heritage."
