Plot

'The Bravest' is a Mandarian-language action film allegedly inspired by the horrific fire caused by the 2010 Dalian Xingang oil spill.

Jiang Liwei (Huang Xiaoming, 'League of Gods', 'Mission Milano'), captain of the special response squadron of Bingang's fire department, is assigned to a smaller role after making a mistake on the job. Liwei's struggles with PTSD lead to his superiors suggesting that perhaps he is no longer as equipped to deal with the strenuous emotional stress of the role as he once was. When a fire erupts at a local port, however, everyone in the fire department must band together to prevent the fire from hitting Tank AO1, a crude oil tank located next to chemical tanks full on cyanide, benzene and xylene. If the tank explodes, it would spell disaster for the population of 8-million as well as for the wider environment. Jiang, along with the former second-in-command who took up Jiang's former post, Ma Weiguo (Du Jiang, 'So Long, My Son', 'Brave World'), and engaged couple Wang Lu (Yang Zi, 'Ashes of Love', 'The Legend of Chusen') and Xu Xiaobin (Ou Hao, 'Vortex, Fist and Faith'), must work together under immense pressure to save themselves and their city.

'The Bravest' is directed by Tony Chan ('Fall in Love Like a Star') and is written by Chao Wang ('Memory of Love') and Yonggan Yu ('The Captain').
