Plot
Dennis is a young boy with mental problems who befriends his own reflection on an old mirror. Little by little, he starts having conversations with this reflection that actually turns out to be an evil demon that haunts his soul and speaks to him through this mirror. The lines between reality and dreams are blurred while Dennis enters a spiral of death and murder that doesn't seem to have an end. The film is the posthumous debut and only film by Andrew Getty, an American millionaire inexperienced in helming. At the beginning, its name was 'The storyteller', and the scrip, written by Getty himself, is based on his experiences during his childhood. 'The Evil Within' is a horror B movie that reminds of the 80s genre films.

Bringing the work home
Andrew Getty turned one of the rooms in his mansion into a postproduction suite, where he spent various years exploring special effects techniques.
Inexperience
Director and writer Andrew Getty didn't have a clue on how to make a film, but still moved forward with the project until the filming was done. However, he passed away during the postproduction process of the movie, two years before it premiered, and couldn't watch the final result.
A clean sweep
'The Evil Within' premiered for the first time at the Fantasporto Film Festival, where it won Best Feature.
