'The Forest' is the first movie directed by American filmmaker Jason Zada and starring 'Game of Thrones' star Natalie Dormer, Taylor Kinney, Yukiyoshi Ozawa and Eoin Macken. This supernatural thriller is based on the history of the forest of Aokigahara below the Mount Fuji in Japan. This forest is known for being the first place where the people go to commit suicide in Japan and the second place with highest number of suicides in the whole world, after the Golden Gate Bridge in the city of San Francisco. The main plot of the movie focuses on a young american girl called Sara who goes all the way to Japan to find her missing twin sister. She'll go into the woods although the guardians warn that nobody should go in and stray from the path. Sara dares to enter the forest to find the truth about her sister's disappearance . This decision will be determining to condemn her own soul and she will be chased by all the tormented spirits between the trees.

Trivia
According to the spanish comic author Juan Torres, the plot, title, and look of the film are very similar to the ones on "El bosque de los suicidas", a spanish comic book by himself and Gabriel Hernández published on 2011.
Natalie Dormer actually went to the suicide forest for research with her Japanese driver, she ventured five meters off the path to take photos and her Japanese driver wouldn't step half an inch over the path.
