The Greatest Beer Run Ever

'The Greatest Beer Run Ever' is a biographical war movie cowritten and directed by Peter Farrelly. It is based on the homonymous book written by John 'Chickie' Donohue and Joanna Molloy. The movie was released worldwide on Apple TV+ streaming service on September 2022 before having premiered before at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The film narrates the real events in the life of John Donohue, a retired marine that, in 1968, in the middle of the Vietnam War, is informed that one of his best friends has died in the war and another one is currently missing. Taking into consideration the polarization of his environment towards the war and to support his fellow soldiers he proposes to travel to Vietnam and bring the soldiers some beers.

So, he boards a ship destination Saigon with the hope to find his missing friend Tommy. There, he is received with joy and some suspicions that he might be a CIA secret agent. However, as time goes by, 'Chickie' Donohue starts to know first hand the crude reality that the Vietnam War is for the United States, that he even changes his personal opinion towards the conflict.

'The Greatest Beer Run Ever' was filmed in various locations of Thailand and New Jersey, and received bad critics, specially to his poor and simple script.
