The miracle club

A group of four housewives from Ballyfermot, Ireland, wins a trip to Lourdes in 1960. They belong to a tough community on the outskirts of Dublin that lives at its own pace, where the traditions of loyalty, faith, and unity are deeply rooted. Their dream of savoring freedom and escaping their domestic lives is to secure the trip to the French city, so with a little benevolent interference from their cheeky and rebellious priest, friends Lily, Eileen, Dolly, and Sheila are the ones who manage to win the ticket in the local raffle.

This is where their adventure begins, a fully paid pilgrimage to the illustrious city for all believers, Lourdes. Their journey becomes an insatiable quest for a mystical experience that can change the lives they have led so far. While they are in French lands fulfilling their dream, their husbands stay at home and take on the role of caregivers for the home and family.

It is a funny comedy starring great women such as two-time Oscar winner Maggie Smith ('Gosford Park'), Oscar winner Kathy Bates ('Richard Jewell'), Golden Globe winner Laura Linney ('The Bookshop'), and young talent Agnes O'Casey.
