The Pope's Exorcist

Oscar winner Russell Crowe for his role in 'Gladiator' stars in the film in which he will play Father Amorth in his investigation of demonic possession of a little boy. In his attempt to fight evil and save the soul of the poor possessed creature, he discovers that this is not the first time that the Church has faced this demon, and that behind this exorcism lies a secular conspiracy that the Vatican has been trying to hide for years.

'The Pope's Exorcist' is the new horror film directed by Julius Avery ('Samaritan' or 'Son of a Gun') based on the real events lived and exposed by Father Gabriel Amorth, Chief Exorcist of the Vatican who performed in his 30 years of work as exorcist priet at the Vatican more than 70 thousand exorcisms. With a screenplay wrote by Michael Petroni ('The Book Thief' or 'Messiah') with the collaboration of Evan Spiliotopoulos ('Beauty and the Beast' or 'The Huntsman: Winter's War'), and Petroni's plot along with R. Dean McCreary ('Find my Family' or 'Under suspicion') and Chester Hastings ('Fanboy' or 'You're my Angel'), the film is based on the books 'Narrations of an Exorcist' and 'New Accounts of an Exorcist' written by Father Amorth. The film will be launched in spanish cinemas on April 5, in the middle of Easter.
