Plot

Two years following the conclusion of the third instalment of this beloved animated saga, Woody (Tom Hanks) and the toys are happily settled in to their new life with Bonnie (Madeleine McGraw). Wishing to look out for Bonnie on her kindergarten orientation day, Woody sneaks into her backpack. During arts and crafts, Woody watches as Bonnie makes a handmade toy out of a spork which she christens "Forky". To Woody's surprise, Forky (Tony Hale) comes to life when he's stashed in the backpack alongside him.

The other toys try to comfort Forky during his existential crisis in which he believes he is more trash than toy, but he ends up throwing himself out of the car on a family roadtrip anyway, leaving Woody to follow him. Upon catching up with Forky, Woody and the little makeshift toy realise they have to find their way back to the RV park where Bonnie and her family are staying.

Along the way, Woody discovers his old flame, Bo Peep (Annie Potts), for sale in an antique store. Bo Peep has become somewhat of an adventurer, finding lost toys and uniting them with loving families. Along with Bo Peep and Forky, Woody must lead them back to Bonnie whilst asking himself some difficult questions about whether being a toy is all it's cracked up to be along the way.
