Twinless

'Twinless' is a psychological drama with touches of American dark comedy written, directed, and starring James Sweeney. It is Sweeney's second feature film following the acclaimed 'Straight Up' from 2019. The film debuts in January 2025 at the Sundance Film Festival, with a North American theatrical release on September 5, 2025. At Sundance, it wins the audience award and a special jury award for Dylan O'Brien, who co-produces and co-stars in the film alongside Sweeney.

O'Brien plays Roman and Rocky, a pair of identical twins who are as different as they are alike. Rocky is gay, outgoing, intelligent, and popular, everything that his twin brother, Roman, is not. After Rocky's sudden death, Roman joins a grief support group made up of people who have lost their twin siblings. There he meets Dennis, a young man in the same situation who reminds him a lot of his brother and with whom he quickly connects.

'Twinless' follows the evolution of the peculiar friendship story between Roman and Dennis. A film with twists and dark humor about grief and personal growth after loss.

In addition to O'Brien and Sweeney, the cast of 'Twinless' includes Aisling Franciosi, Lauren Graham, Tasha Smith, Chris Perfetti, François Arnaud, Susan Par, and Cree Cicchino. The film is set and filmed in Portland, Oregon.
