It seems that until now Disney's 'Aladdin' remake has done nothing but cause laughter at their expense with promo-photos of dodgy quality and the debate over whether Will Smith's Genie would be actually be blue. However, despite these divided reactions to the promotion so far, Disney have persevered and released a new teaser trailer at the Grammy Awards. The answer to months of questioning is here; for the first time we see Smith as the Genie... and, like we were promised, he is blue.

The trailer shows the iconic scene where Jafar (Marwan Kenzari) leads Aladdin (Mena Massoud) to the entrance of Cave of Wonders and challenges him to fetch him the Genie's lamp. It also features impressive shots of the colourful city of Agrabah, and Jasmine (Naomi Scott) looking as elegant and regal as ever. In the final moments of the trailer, Aladdin rubs the lamp, awakening the sleeping Genie. There is no denying that Will Smith's face edited with CGI is a little disturbing, but perhaps we will get used to it with time.

Jasmine's Iconic Red Outfit

The new trailer is not the only exciting new glance we have into the world of Agrabah; while Will Smith's new blue look might be a little divisive among fans, a new image of Naomi Scott in Jasmine's iconic red outfit was also published, showing that the actress is truly the live incarnation of the 90s cartoon princess.

The outfit is rather more elaborate than the original and, instead of the plain gold tiara, Scott's crown is embellished with red precious stones to match her bikini. As well as this slight addition, we know that Jasmine will at last have her own original song in this version of the story, which, according to Will Smith himself, is "very empowering for women".

Only a few month remain until we will be transported to the magical realm of Agrabah: the film comes to cinemas on 24th May.
