Just this past 20th April, Warner Bros announced they were working on another installment to its 'The Conjuring' franchise. A spin-off film entitled 'The Nun' is set for release later this year whilst recent news have suggested the project in works is a third 'Annabelle' sequel. The planned release date for the film in question is 3rd July 2019.

'The Nun' (a 'The Conjuring 2' spin-off) is set for UK release on 7th September but 'The Conjuring' films have a talent for doing well at the box office, so the announcement of a further addition hasn't really come as a surprise. Many believed the next film in the saga would be a third instalment to 'The Conjuring' or an entirely new spin-off called 'The Crooked Man'. The studios have been teasing the latter production for some time now, but with the new announcement, it seems to be on the back burner.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gary Dauberman, one of the screenplay writers behind 'It', is set to direct to upcoming film in his debut role. Dauberman will also be writing for 'Annabelle 3' after having done so for 'Annabelle: Creation'.

What we know so far

There's not much to tell about 'Annabelle 3' as of yet, given it's only just been announced, although it's believed the film will take place between the events of 'Annabelle' and 'Annabelle: Creation', the prequel. James Wan and Peter Safran will be producing the film and given that they raked in a global total of $527 million with the last two 'Annabelle' films, we've no doubt they'll be able to repeat their success this time around.
