Ever since another 'Crocodile Dundee' sequel was announced, its been met with mixed reactions. The sequel, 'Dundee: The Son of a Legend Returns Home' is supposedly set to star both Chris Hemsworth and Danny McBride - supposedly because no one's really sure whether the whole thing is a joke.

 The new Dundee sequel

It's very rare in this day and age for a sequel to a relatively popular film, like Paul Hogan's 'Crocodile Dundee, to feature a star as big as Chris Hemsworth and not create a buzz. Hemsworth's lack of acknowledgement of the sequel has lead many to believe the rumours are false.

The trailer for the sequel, released via Rimwire Films' Twitter page, was also entitled 'Dundee: The Son of a Legend Returns Home'. The production company brought us the first two Dundee films a while back in the '80s. The official webpage for the film looks very professional, and features the trailer, a gallery, character descriptions and a synopsis.

As we can see from the trailer, the sequel will hit cinemas this summer, and heavily features Danny McBride who'll play Brian, Michael Dundee's American son. The former is tasked with entering the Australian outback in order to rescue the latter when he goes missing. Given the synopsis, it's not yet clear which role Chris Hemsworth will be taking up: perhaps he'll end up helping Brian find his father? Despite the authenticity of the film's site, many are still adamant that the whole sequel is a parody, and not really in the works at all.

Chris Hemsworth

While we wait to hear more about the new Dundee film, one production we can tell you a little about Hemsworth's latest project. '12 Strong' is an action film starring Michael Shannon, Michael Peña and Elsa Pataky alongside Hemsworth. The film is set for UK release on 26th January.
