Benj Pasek and Justin Paul both burst into stardom after they composed 'City of Stars' (from 'La La Land'), a song we can't help but hum along to whenever we hear it. Their fame continued this year, when they were nominated for the award for best song at the Oscars due to their composition of 'This is Me' for 'The Greatest Showman'. Although the two returned home empty handed, (because the award went to 'Coco'), they still have a lot of work to do. Pasek and Paul announced on the red carpet that they're preparing two songs for the upcoming film, 'Aladdin'.

 'Aladdin'

According to their interview with Variety on the red carpet, the duo have written two new songs for Disney's upcoming live-action film, but they haven't done it alone. The two have collaborated with eight-time Oscar award winner, Alan Menken. Four of Menken's Oscars were in the best original score category. 'The Little Mermaid', 'Pocahontas', 'Beauty and the Beast', and 'Aladdin', are a few examples of the films he's worked on.

Both Pasek and Paul were pretty excited to share their news with Variety, stating he's "one of our heroes". We can't wait to hear the fruit of the three top composers, although, unfortunately for us, there's still some time to go before we'll get to see Guy Ritchie's 'Aladdin'.

Big hits coming our way

Part of Disney's huge success has always been down to its musicals and the studio just keeps producing songs that will not only please the public but also those working on them. So, given that Benj Pasek and Justin Paul are the composers of the moment, we're not surprised they've managed to collaborate with Disney on this occasion. In other news, Elton John and Beyoncé will be working on 'The Lion King', meaning Disney will be bringing us a whole load of new songs that are sure to be big hits.
