The multitalented Nicolas Cage has been on our screens since the 80s and the actor recently sat down with JoBlo for an interview in which he revealed his desire to appear in more superhero films, but this time as a villain. Cage even joked that he'd make the perfect Joker.

 Nic Cage

Cage has been in various superhero films over the years, beginning with his appearance as Superman in 'Superman Lives' which ended up being cancelled. The actor has most recently lent his voice to the same character in 'Teen Titans Go! To the movies', which is set for UK release on 3rd August. Other superhero films on which Cage has worked include 'Ghost Rider' and 'Kick Ass': the actor played Big Daddy in the latter.

"I mean, I think my comic book days are kind of...I'm on to other things, but I always thought I'd make a great Joker and I always thought that I would've been a good villain in one of the Marvel [movies] like Doctor Doom. But, Doctor Doom you have to wear that mask, but I thought the story leading up to Doctor Doom could've been interesting. At this point if I was to go back into the format it would probably have to be as a villain."

Nicolas Cage as the Joker?

Despite Cage's desire to portray Batman's most famous enemy, it doesn't seem like it'll be coming true anytime soon. Jared Leto, who recently played the character in 'Suicide Squad', will be continuing with the role in the sequel whilst Joaquin Phoenix has been linked to a standalone film about the Joker. Just at the end of last month we saw Cameron Monaghan as the villain in 'Gotham'. So, there's no opening for Cage, for now, at least.
