The end of last year was an exciting time for horror film lovers, not only did the final quarter bring along 'It' (the film adaptation of Stephen King's eponymous novel), but also another instalment to the 'Saw' franchise. The eighth film, entitled 'Jigsaw', was the first following a seven year break and it promised to revive the franchise.

All seems to have gone to plan for the creators behind the film, for, 'Jigsaw' topped the US box-office upon its release and earned more positive reviews than its predecessors. The success of 'Jigsaw' could very well be down to the reappearance of Tobin Bell's John Kramer, who hadn't featured in the films for around a decade.

 'Jigsaw'

The latest film was so well received that the creators have given the go-ahead for another instalment. According to Bloody Disgusting, Peter Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg are already working on a script. The two worked together on 'Jigsaw' as well as, other films in the genre like 'Piranha 3D' and 'Sorority Row'.

What we know so far

There's not much to say about the upcoming instalment yet, although we do know that a new director will be taking on the project. Michael and Peter Spierig, who worked on the previous film, will not be directing the upcoming one.
