Why 'Captain Marvel' Punches an Old Woman with No Hesitation in the Trailer

Disney have launched the first teaser trailer for the revolutionary 'Captain Marvel' film, one of the most exciting new releases for fans of the Marvel Universe. In this preview, many details of what we will see in the next superhero adventure, starring Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, remain hidden. There is an evident hint at being set in the 90s, when the Captain crash-lands into the middle of the well-known Blockbuster store. This is underpinned by the first images of the film, which confirm that Marvel refuses to miss out on the opportunity to exploit this decade in the same way that the 80s has been. We have not yet heard any MC Hammer music playing, perhaps something which Marvel is saving for later, as they are currently playing the "subtle" game...With punching success!

The trailer is powerful due to the way it focuses solely on her character, leaving the other key players in the background. However, with no clear villain shown, the trailer also hints at potential villains being around every corner... In fact, if the comics are respected by the Mickey Mouse House (the owners of Marvel since 2009) then that leaves room for an incredibly cool concept for this film which shows the origins of the Avengers Universe we know today. This idea blows our minds; the villain faced by the Captain is going to be the most infamous alien race of the Marvel Universe, intimidating enough to bring Thanos to his knees: the Skrulls, who are known for their ability to change form, making them one of the most deadly villains due to their incognito status. In one short clip in the trailer we see Carol Danvers punching a seemingly innocent old woman without hesitation - or, as theory would have it, a Skrull in disguise....

Talos, the leader of these invaders, played by Ben Mendelsohn, initiates the infiltration operation of planet Earth by passing for a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, a position of power - and this doesn't even come close to some of the impossible turns and twists which have been seen in the comic world, with aliens impersonating 'Avengers', 'X-Men', and humans alike.

The villains makes the hero

After the explosive success of 'Avengers: Infinity War' Marvel have made it clear that a hero is only as good as the villain it faces, and has strongly wagered on 'Captain Marvel' with a threat that will shake to the core. The Skrulls: the veteran villains of the Marvel universe with enough tricks up their sleeve to dupe even the smartest of rivals.

Created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee in 1962, they first appeared in the second volume of 'The Fantastic Four' and since then have not stopped featuring in more and more crazy plot lines. The icing on the cake is, without a doubt, the comic 'The Secret Invasion', a story in which the Skrulls end up transformed into the heroes until Mr Fantastic develops a device to detect the fake from the real. Can you even imagine how this could all play out on the big screen in 'Captain Marvel'?
