Aida

'Aída' is a spin-off of the Spanish comedy '7 vidas', produced by Globomedia and broadcast by Telecinco. The series premiered in 2005 and remained on air for ten seasons, until 2014, making it one of the longest-running and most popular sitcoms on Spanish television, with over 230 episodes aired.

The fiction centers on the character of Aída García (Carmen Machi), a cleaning woman, divorced, who returns to the Madrid neighborhood of Esperanza Sur with her two children, Lorena and Jonathan, to the place where she grew up and spent much of her life. 

After the recent death of her father, Aída inherits the family home, which she must share with her mother Eugenia, an eccentric former vedette who has mingled with numerous celebrities and with her brother Luisma, a former drug addict trying to find his place in society.

Upon her return to the neighborhood, Aída reunites with old acquaintances who will be an essential part of her daily life: Chema (Pepe Viyuela), the owner of a grocery store who lives with his peculiar and intelligent son Fidel; Paz (Melani Olivares), her lifelong neighbor and friend who works as a prostitute; and Mauricio Colmenero (Mariano Peña), the owner of Bar Reinols and one of the most iconic characters of the series.

The cast is completed by Paco León (Luisma), Eduardo Casanova (Fidel), David Castillo (Jonathan), Ana Polvorosa (Lorena), and Canco Rodríguez (Barajas).

Aída had a huge cultural impact, noted for its sharp humor, direct language, and its ability to address social issues such as job insecurity, immigration, homophobia, addictions, or dysfunctional families through comedy.

On January 30, 2026, the movie 'Aída y vuelta' premieres, reviving the universe of the series with much of the original cast under the direction of Paco León. The project mixes fiction with behind-the-scenes elements to immerse fans in the creation of the series.
