Every time Piper goes to the phone, the same crying woman is at another phone.

The title sequence features close-ups of the faces of real former inmates, including several brief shots of Piper Kerman, whose book was the basis for the TV series. Kerman is the one who blinks after Laura Prepon is credited.

Ryan Murphy had the rights to Piper Kerman's memoir before Jenji Kohan, but admitted he could never figure out how to do it the proper way. He then ended up letting the option lapse and it became what it is now.
