'A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood' is a biopic based on the real life experiences of the American children's TV host Fred McFeely Rogers, more commonly known as Fred Rogers or Mr. Rogers. Rogers, who hosted the television show 'Mister Rogers' Neighborhood' from 1968 to 2001, is played by Tom Hanks.
In its 108 minutes, the feature film revolves around the true-life friendship between the famous presenter and Lloyd Vogel (based on the journalist Tom Junod and played by Matthew Rhys), the award-winning journalist of Esquire magazine, watching as the cynical journalist, who reluctantly accepts the task of writing a biography about the iconic children's TV presenter, slowly begins to change his perspective on life and the people that are important to him.
At the beginning of the story, Lloyd is a work-addict with a new-born son and a father who has just come back into his life after abandoning him and his mother twenty years prior. Though Lloyd is initially cynical about the article, his meeting with Rogers, an influential cultural figure known for his lessons on morality and ethics, will change his life.
