The story is based on a true story and interpreted by Message Lustig, a non-professional actor but a member of the Jewish community in New York that is represented.
'Menashe' tells the story of a widowed man who lives humbly and works in a grocery store while fighting for the custody of his son Rieven (Yoel Falkowitz). Right that will cost him to obtain since in the Jewish community a man cannot be alone, reason why, according to the Torah, he should be able to remarry before considering living again with his son.
The script is signed by the director himself with Alex Lipschultz and Musa Syeed.
The film has been nominated in various independent film awards such as the Gotham or the Independent Spirit Awards and in them, in categories such as novel director or best debut.
