Academy Awards (Oscars) 2023

95th Edition of the American Academy Awards presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. They took place on March 12th, 2023, in the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, Los Angeles, in a ceremony hosted by comedian Jimmy Kimmel and directed by Glenn Weiss.

Previously, actors Allison Williams and Riz Ahmed announced on January 24th, 2023, the nominees. 'Everything, Everywhere All at Once' was the most nominated movie with eleven categories, while 'All Quiet on the Western Front' and 'The Banshees of Inisherin' tied for the second place with nine nominations each.

The list of winners unveiled during the ceremony was also led by 'Everything Everywhere All at Once', with 7 Oscars, including Best Picture. 'All Quiet on the Western Front' was second with 4 awards, being the second most awarded film of the night.

The telecast was seen by 18,75 million of people in the United States, broadcasted by ABC Network, gaining a 13% compared to the previous year, after the interest rose awaiting the reactions of the infamous "slap" Will Smith gave to Chris Rock one year earlier. Nominees to Best Song performed during the night, including Rihanna, Lenny Kravitz and Lady Gaga, the latter was confirmed to sing on the same day of the event.

On November 19th, 2022, the Honorary Oscars were awarded to Euzhan Palcy, Diane Warren and Peter Weir. The Humanitarian Award was given to actor Michael J. Fox for his contribution on the visibilization of Parkinson's disease.
