A Land Imagined

Wang is a Chinese construction worker who works in the most industrial area of Singapore. When he suffers an accident, the man is more alone than ever. As a result of this, he begins an unexpected friendship online, a friendship that will become increasingly sinister, until the time comes when Wang disappears. After this, the police Lok will have to investigate this sudden disappearance, only to discover a truth that will change everything forever.

The film is directed and written by Yeo Siew Hua (returning to the feature film after 'In the house of Straw') and stars Peter Yu (as Lok), Xiaoyi Liu (playing Wang) and Yue Guo (playing to Mindy). The film has been awarded worldwide awards in different festivals such as the Locarno Festival in 2018 where it won the Golden Leopard, in addition to the Jury Prize Jr and a special mention. It also participated in the Singapore International Film Festival, where it was named Best Asian Film by a jury led by Hong Kong director Stanley Kwan. It is the first time that a Singaporean film has won the award. It was selected as Singapore's entry for Best International Film at the US Academy Awards, the Oscars, but was not selected. Film noir, social realism and a few other genres are all tossed together into a cement mixer to make 'A Land Imagined'.
