Plot
'Asteroid City' takes us to a fictional desert town in the United States around the year 1955, where a convention of aspiring astronomers and space cadets (organized to bring together students and parents from across the country with the goal of sharing their passion and test your knowledge) is spectacularly interrupted by a series of world-changing events.
The film is directed by Wes Anderson, filmmaker of acclaimed titles such as 'The Grand Budapest Hotel', 'Moonrise Kingdom' or 'The Tenenbaums. A family of geniuses', among others. IBesides directing, Anderson writes the script, which comes from a story created by himself and Roman Coppola. The director is also a producer, a role he performs alongside Steven Rales and Jeremy Dawson.
The cast of 'Asteroid City' is composed of both regular names in Anderson's filmography and performers working with him for the first time: Jason Schwartzman, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Jeffrey Wright, Tilda Swinton, Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Adrien Brody, Liev Schreiber, Hope Davis, Stephen Park, Rupert Friend, Maya Hawke, Steve Carell, Matt Dillon, Hong Chau, Willem Dafoe, Margot Robbie, Tony Revolori, Jake Ryan, and Jeff Goldblum.
'Asteroid City' premiered on the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.
