Synopsis

Rajaram, a karate master, taught his daughter Nila one rule as a child: if someone hits you, hit back. She took it to heart. Now grown up and working an office job, she doesn't need anyone to protect her from sleazy bosses or chain snatchers, and she'll step in for anybody who's being pushed around.

It turns out the whole family can fight. Her mother, Neelaveni, is just as handy with her fists, and Uncle Ilango, who runs a pharmacy, has a surprise or two of his own. So when Nila's temper puts her in the sights of Varun, a corrupt businessman with powerful friends who's out to grab a stretch of hill country, all four of them have to fight back together.

'Blast' is the first feature from director Subash K Raj, a Tamil action thriller starring Arjun Sarja, known to Indian audiences as the 'Action King', Abhirami and Preity Mukhundhan, who several critics singled out as the film's biggest surprise. Vivek Prasanna plays Uncle Ilango, with John Kokken and Arjun Chidambaram leading the bad guys. Ravi Basrur, making his Tamil debut, wrote the score, and stunt choreographer Phoenix Prabhu designed fights that often play out inside a cramped family home.

It opened in Indian cinemas on 28 May 2026, alongside a Telugu dubbed version, did well at the box office and arrived on Netflix on 25 June. Its average across the 11 outlets collected on Movienco is 6.2 out of 10.
