Plot

Based on the incredible true story of composer Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges. The illegitimate son of an African slave and a French plantation owner, Bologne (Kelvin Harrison Jr.) rises to improbable heights in French society as a celebrated violinist-composer and fencer, complete with an ill-fated love affair and his confrontation with Marie Antoinette (Lucy Boynton) and her court.

The film is directed by Emmy winner Stephen Williams, whose career includes titles such as 'Watchmen' and 'Lost'. The script is written by Stefani Robinson, screenwriter of TV series like 'Fargo', 'What We Do in the Shadows' and 'Atlanta', for which she has already received six Emmy Award nominations.

In addition to Kelvin Harrison Jr. ('Elvis,' 'The Trial of the Chicago 7'), who leads the films, the cast includes actors and actresses such as Lucy Boynton ('Sing Street,' 'Bohemian Rhapsody,' 'Murder on the Orient Express'), Samara Weaving ('Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,' 'Guns Akimbo'), Minnie Driver ('Good Will Hunting'), Marton Csokas, Sian Clifford ('Fleabag', 'Life After Life'), Alec Newman, Alex Fitzalan ('The Wilds'), Ronke Adekoluejo, Jessica Boone, Jim High, Ben Bradshaw, Sam Barlien, Fatou Sohna and Martin Matejcik.
