Eagles of the Republic

''Eagles of the Republic'' is a political thriller directed by Tarik Saleh that combines intrigue, satire, and drama exploring power in contemporary Egypt. 

The story follows George Fahmy (Fares Fares), one of the biggest stars of Egyptian cinema, known for his popularity and his ability to navigate between commercial entertainment and the constraints of censorship. 

Used to living under the media spotlight, Fahmy maintains a seemingly comfortable career, although it is heavily marked by the political control that dominates the country's cultural industry.

The situation changes radically when the Egyptian authorities pressure him to star in a major cinematic superproduction of a propagandistic nature aimed at glorifying the regime. Accepting the role, albeit reluctantly, introduces him to the most exclusive and dangerous circles of political power, where loyalty is constantly monitored and every gesture can have consequences. 

Fahmy finds himself caught in a game of influence, manipulation, and surveillance that threatens to destroy his artistic and personal independence.

Amid this tense atmosphere, the actor begins a secret relationship with the enigmatic wife of the general in charge of overseeing the film project. This clandestine romance intensifies the risk and reveals just how trapped the protagonist is by the power surrounding him. A world where politics, spectacle, and propaganda dangerously intertwine is reflected.
