Plot
May 2020. In the midst of lockdown due to the pandemic, Malcolm and June embark on a road trip in search of something to restore their peace. But a breakdown forces them to stop in Eddington, a small and isolated town in the New Mexico desert. There, they are welcomed with hospitality by its inhabitants, who seem more organized than the outside world. With no signal or way to move forward, they decide to spend the night.
What initially seems like a safe haven soon transforms into a nightmare. Eddington is not just a town out of time, but a community governed by its own rules, where the fear of the virus has evolved into something much darker. As night falls, hidden tensions rise to the surface. The local sheriff (Joaquin Phoenix), obsessed with maintaining order, and the charismatic mayor (Pedro Pascal), determined to protect the town's interests, engage in a conflict that unleashes violence that has been pent up for months.
As the neighbors divide and paranoia grows, Malcolm and June find themselves trapped in a spiral of distrust, fanaticism, and survival. What began as an accident turns into a struggle to escape alive from a place where the rules have changed, and where the most dangerous thing is no longer the virus, but what people are capable of doing when they believe they are saving what little they have left.
