Synopsis

'Eisenstein in Guanajuato' focuses on the misadventures of the venerated filmmaker Eisenstein whose talent, vision and wisdom could be compared with the ones of Shakespeare or Beethoven. Very few directors are as well considered as him. He achieved fame for 'Battleship Potemkin' a film that opened the doors of the United States for him, a country where he was finally rejected by a malicious Hollywood plagued by American conservatives. Then Eisenstein traveled to Mexico to participate in a film written by the American writer Upton Sinclair, an experience that was vital both in his career and in his life, and brought him back as an international figure. This film written and directed by Peter Greenaway delves into the life of the cinema titan that made so many movies to remember.
